The Zimmerman verdict protests continued in Oakland last night, and again Oakland restaurants were negatively affected. Over the weekend, Flora and its next door bar Fauna suffered broken and vandalized windows.
Last night, things got even more dangerous as one of Flora’s servers was struck in the head by a masked vandal’s hammer, as reported by the Chronicle’s Henry K. Lee and Demian Bulwa.
In the wee hours of this morning, the restaurant confirmed that the server was indeed trying to shield the restaurant from harm and went to the ER. Fortunately, it looks like he’s in recovery mode, following a little trip to the hospital:
Confirming our server was hit in head by protester with hammer while guarding restaurant from further damage. He is ok after night at ER.
